“The Mire’s first season,” which takes place in the 1980s, is on two journalists looking into the savage murders of two people in a Polish village. An extensive plot that predates the murders starts to come to light as they attempt to piece together the story. With its cast of ethically dubious people who appear to have hidden agendas, the show’s plot gradually devolves into a chain of events where no one seems to be blameless. The show’s purposeful melancholy is enhanced by the menacing spectre of the atrocities of World War 2.
“The Mire ’97,” the second season of The Mire, takes place in the 1990s. The season centres on the examination of a flood in a tiny town close to Gronty Forest, where the body of a teenage boy and human remains are discovered. A number of mysteries in the town are unearthed as a result of the investigation, including the adolescent boy’s murder and the collapsed levees that flooded the town and the surrounding forest. The season finale exposes that the kidnapping and eventual death of another boy, as well as the murder of the boy, are the fault of the town’s prosecutor.
“The Mire Millennium” the third season of the Mire, The flood of the century unearths another body in Gronty forest and with it comes corruption, scams from the ’90s and long-hidden secrets from WWII.
