In March 2022, Netflix said that Killer Soup would be produced. The Netflix original series Killer Soup is scheduled to launch on January 11, 2024.
A talented but untalented home cook named Swathi Shetty (Konkana Sen Sharma) devises a strange scheme to have her husband Prabhakar (Manoj Bajpayee) replaced with her boyfriend Umesh (also played by Manoj Bajpayee) in the Black Comedy Crime Thriller series Killer Soup. But when amateur villains and an incompetent local inspector get involved, things don’t go as planned, and mayhem results.
The ambitious yet untalented home cook Swathi Shetty was focused on winning her town’s annual culinary contest. Years had passed while she tried and failed, but this time she had a trick up her sleeve that would make her soup unique. She was aware of a unique type of mushroom that could only be found growing in the Western Ghats’ thick forests. It was claimed that the mushroom had magical qualities that could improve the flavour of any food.
Swathi left her husband Prabhakar behind and embarked on a quest to locate the mushroom. She braved the dangerous wildlife and inclement weather as she hiked into the deep woodlands. It took her several days to locate the mushroom.
She was overjoyed and couldn’t wait to make her soup when she got home.
But when she got back home, things became quite gloomy. When she got there, she saw her spouse having an affair. Swathi was enraged and devastated. She made the decision to poison her soup in retaliation. She was confident that Prabhakar would never suspect a thing because he liked her soup.
When competition day finally arrived, word of Swathi’s soup had spread throughout the community. The flavour stunned every person who tried it. However, as the day wore on, more and more people began to get sick. As one victim after another was claimed by her soup, Swathi stared in horror. It was too late for her to realise she’d added too much poison.
